Lulacruza
Lulacruza instinctively weaves female vocals, South American instruments, found sound objects and field recordings through electronic manipulation.

A duo from Argentina and Colombia, Luis Maurette and Alejandra Ortiz make primal songs which combine improvising, channeling and working with the tangible aspects of sound.

Luis has lived in many South-American countries and is fascinated by the universal principles that underline different cultures. Originally as a drummer and later using his laptop, he has always been exploring sound. This constant search took him to Mills College in Oakland, CA, where he studied electronic music.

Alejandra, on the other hand, has lived most of her life in Colombia and has a deep connection with the immemorial practices and sounds of the land. She has sung and played different instruments for as long as she can remember. Her music is nurtured by being in nature, being in silence and by the possibilities of using sound for transmission.

Their debut album, Do Pretty! is a collection of contemplative songs that radiate outward in kaleidoscopic noise. It was recorded in Oakland, CA (USA) and Bogota (Colombia), and mixed in Buenos Aires (Argentina). It features collaborations with Gregg Kowalsky, Ben Bracken, Quentin Sirjaq and others.
