Tranqui Yanqui

One of the coolest things about performance art is it comes from a place deep inside the artist that quite possibly only he/she can understand. It goes outside of the normal defined "shows" like music or art or theater and starts from scratch. It´s a performance. It´s a statement. It´s whatever the artist wants it to be. The rest comes in the way the artist tries to communicate with his/her public. This is the case with Tranqui Yanqui. We don´t really understand what he´s trying to do, (does he really want us to?) but we like it nonetheless.
From Miami Gringo to Porteño style, 'Tranqui Yanqui's' been making stops in all of B.A's barrios - Cool or Not - and he's taking his closet with him. His makeshift closet showcases the latest in paper-clothing and cardboard sunglass design, with plenty of Super-Panchos in-between. Curious? "Buy a hot-dog and take home an original piece of art", says Tranqui. Check his blog for details about his next performance.
This weekend catch Tranqui Yanqui in Plaza Serrano (Palermo Viejo).
