By Aldo Benítez If you´ve ever been to Niceto´s entrance you must know him, he´s almost two meters tall, asking you for your ticket and welcoming you to the club. While anyone could confuse him with a "security guy" he denies the label and in conversation with WUBA tells us: "before they called us doormen, now that title itself is more an attribute for those who work as security. I came to be more of a receptionist, the one who tries to welcome people and communicate Niceto´s philosophy, trying to keep everything as smooth, peaceful and orderly as possible".

Superficially and in a contextual way Gulliver may seem like a tough guy, however he tells us that some time ago he found "his religion" in swimming, an element of balance and feeling well.
But what most represents Gulliver is his creative side, and his passion is photography.

Just take a look at his flickr to see that he is very prolific and above all very visited with over 6000 views of his 200 photos, a lot of them taken in his workplace. "At Niceto´s door there’s constant interaction with all kinds of people and situations are not always friendly, one of my responsibilities is to place limits on certain situations and it something that almost nobody likes, it is difficult to make a transition from receiving a hug from a person I known to having to clash with another" says Gulli of his workplace.

But he finishes telling us: "the good thing is that I receive a lot of love. People give me CDs, sweets, t-shirts, kisses and more than once right there I take some of the best pictures I have in my stream, it’s a very crazy place"

When we see his photos we realize that are a diary in pictures, not in the chronological aspect but as a record of impressions that Gulliver invites us to perceive through his camera. A record of life, a wandering camera with the photographer eventually snapping his daily work situation, intimate moments or in the street.

I must say that all of the photos have a high degree of plasticity, Gulli is very rigorous in the selection and a obsessive in retouching, in fact he took a photo of me at a Zizek party but it is no longer in his flickr, instead there´s another new photo, retouched and beautiful. I´m going to ask him permission to put it on my MySpace.

Regarding his photos and his work in Niceto Gulli says: "flickr is another universe, more quiet, more fluid. For me both are the intellectual and emotional places and times to develop a necessary intensity. But maybe one thing and the other - my work in Niceto and flickr - are the right combination for this stage of my life. They allow me to stimulate my creative side and also the desire to share something, though I don´t know what it is, but it seems to be of some interest to others, good and I like it a lot".

If you want to see more Gulliver photos you can go to ThisIsNotAGallery (Cabrera 5849, Palermo) in July where he is showing a video 24 hours a day throughout the month.
