Pura Cepa (something very pure) combines elements of dance, music and theater, weaving through styles, aesthetics and textures with various scenes. The play is created by Ana Frenkel who also formed part of an amazing erotic dance and theater troupe called El Descueve. Thus hands down it makes it in our recommendations for tonight and the rest of the month.

Milton Nascimento was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is famous for
his chime-clear falsetto and tonal range, as well for highly acclaimed songs such as Maria, Maria, Canção da América (Song from America), Travessia, Bailes da vida and Coração de estudante (Student's Heart).

While his reputation within Brazil was firmly established with his Clube da Esquina works, Nascimento's international breakthrough came with his appearance on jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter's 1974 album Native Dancer. This led to widespread
acclaim, and collaborations with American stars such as Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, George Duke and Quincy Jones. His 1994 album Angelus features appearances by Pat Metheny, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, Jack DeJohnette, Nana Vasconcelos, Jon
Anderson, James Taylor, and Peter Gabriel. Nascimento earned a Grammy award for Best World Music Album in 1998 for his album Nascimento, and was also nominated in 1991 and 1995. He´ll be playing tonight at Gran Rex Theater.
