Modex is a two-member band - Gaby and Martín V - that was created in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in midyear 2003. It is during that same year that Modex made its first appearances at clubs in Buenos Aires: very powerful and exciting shows - with a sound combining the late 70s and early 80s new wave/postpunk/disco punk attitude with the electro dance floors that made them one of the most exciting live acts in Argentina and South America!
The use of synthesizers, Martin V sharp guitar sounds and a riot vocal style with ironic and cynical lyrics from Gaby produces a stunning display of electro/disco punk and new wave that have became their trademark, enjoying success on the gig circuits as well as on the dance floor.
Modex have become a "must see" act in Argentina, South America, Europe and a main player in the electronic & rock scene playing almost everywhere. Adding a great visual performance through exclusive designed videos by Barfuss the impact of Modex on the electronic & rock scene is reflected in the admiration of fans, and in the acknowledgement of critics and national and international artists.
In 2003/4/5/6/7 Modex performed in various national & international festivals: Codigo Pais (Bs As), Cosquin Rock (Cba) , ElectroRock (Orfeo Superdomo, Cba), Estudio Abierto (Bs. As.), Festival De Arte Electronico (Rosario), Verano 07 Planetario (Bs. As.) and toured Argentina, Chile: Blondie, Club Bizarre (Stgo. de Chile) and Deck 00 (Valparaiso) and Europe.
First European Tour with gigs in Club Evol (hosted by Ladytron) Liverpool with Klaxons, School of Arts Glasgow, Rockers Inc 3 Berlin, Being Boiled (hosted by Client) at Notting Hills Arts Club London, Computer Blue London.
In October 2006 Modex first video for the track “Cellular Phone” directed by Barfuss is released with rotation in MTV LA and Via-X Chile.
In March 2007 Modex made a Mini Tour through Europe, playing at Le Garage, Madrid, Spain, at the Inauguration Party of Tonstudio, Stuttgart, Germany 2 times in a row for press, Vip and Public and at Love & Hate Party at White Trash hosted by Peaches, Berlin, Germany.
In October/November 2007 Modex begun a very successful 3rd European Tour with live shows in the very well known Nitsa Club, Apolo, Barcelona, Spain, Madrid and Murcia Spain, and two shows in Russia!, one in 16 Tons in Moscow and one in Achtung Baby! In San Petersburg!
In February 2008 Modex will be releasing their first EP on PIAS Spain (Play It Again Sam Records)! (Tiga, Soulwax, 2 many DJs, Editors…among others), in anticipation for the entire Album release in October 2008 on PIAS (Spain).
