Welcome to the first ever WUBA Radio podcast! WhatsUpBuenosAires.com is determined to bring you the best of arts and culture in Buenos Aires, and have therefore decided to start a series of podcasts featuring what's up in the Buenos Aires music scene each month.
At the beginning of every month, check WhatsUpBuenosAires.com and download your podcast where host Allie Silver will spin some of her favorite tracks, highlighting local artists as well as keeping you informed of the international talent in town.
This month we are featuring Colombia in honor of the mass of Colombian artists playing this month, and also to touch on how Argentine musicians have taken Colombian rhythms and made them their own.
We sat down with Sidestepper who kicked off Club Niceto's Colombian Invasion, a series of three concerts that began with Sidestepper and will continue with Bomba Estéreo and Systema Solar.
The Colombian Invasion will continue this Thursday the 31st with Bomba, a musical project formed in 2005 by Simón Mejia that today has become one of the most important bands to come out of the new Colombian music scene. Behind the microphone is the explosive singer Li Saumet, whose live shows mix traditional folklore, dancy cumbia and modern hip hop flows.
WUBA is raffling tickets to both Bomba Estéreo and Systema Solar, for more information click here. To purchase tickets online go to Ticketek here.
