WUBA turned 3 years old recently and we thought we’d spread the news. For the occasion we are throwing a party this Wednesday, come and celebrate with us!
WUBA set out to fill a gap in the information highway. Finding good information in Buenos Aires, in the year 2004, was not an easy thing to do, especially if you had just arrived or spoke minimal Spanish. WUBA was created to provide that information. What started out as a daily agenda turned into much more. Ideas were thrown out and before we knew it we had a Music section, a Forum, a Links Browser and a small production team consisting of a DJ and a VJ. WUBA hit the streets in late 2004 and never looked back.
We always had fun with the idea of visitors - foreigners - expats contributing something the city. Buenos Aires is so alive with culture arts and entertainment it was quite natural for a website that dedicated itself to getting to know all the cities artists to become involved. Thus WUBA Productions was born. Now, after 3 years of mixing foreigners with local culture, it is our turn to take local culture abroad. Next year we will take our newest production, Zizek, to the USA for the prestigious music festival SXSW and a mini-tour.

-New ideas lead to new design and new life. WUBA goes from 2004 to 2007 overnight in September. WUBA gets serious and gets 80 new sponsors on board as well as hiring a cast of new people and receiving a smattering of cool interns.
-Zizek goes 50 straight weeks non-stop. New musicians and producers create careers and ideas are explored and acted upon. A new scene is created. Some people claim the scene was already there, and to some degree they are right. But nobody organized, mobilized and strategized like Zizek. The WUBA effect? We think so. End result: Thousands of people dance to new sounds and Zizek goes international. Marcelo D2, Diplo and Damas Gratis play sold out crowds and Rolling Stone Argentina lists the Diplo show as one of the hottest parties of the year.

Claro vamos por MAS.
-Expect new sections and new initiatives and continued excellence in covering what’s fresh and new in BA culture.
-Expect Zizek to come to a club near you, even if your thousands of miles away from BA.
-Expect to take some souvenirs home with you. More details soon.
Come celebrate with us this Wednesday and if you gotta get up early on Thursday then we´ve put together a little party called Super Zizek on Saturday.
